UT Austin Test for Credit in Arabic

The UT Test for Credit in Arabic allows students with previous knowledge of Arabic to earn UT course credit for the lower division courses ARA 601C and 611C. 

Students for Whom the Credit by Exam Test is Recommended or Appropriate

Students with prior knowledge of Arabic who wish to determine their level of placement to enroll in a Arabic course at UT, or students who wish to earn credit by exam for ARA 601C and 611C, may take this test. The test is entirely written.

The time allowed for this test is three hours.

Where and When to Take the Test

The UT Austin Test for Credit in Arabic is offered on campus for eligible UT Austin students only during scheduled testing period in mid-fall semester, typically in October. Please review the ID Requirements, as students arriving without proper ID may not test. Visit the Test Registration System to view and register for upcoming test dates.

Registration Fee: 

The total of the fees for this test is $85. When you register for a test, you will immediately be billed for the non-refundable test registration fee of $25. After you take the test, you will be billed for the test fee of $60. Payments are due within 14 days of the billing date. All fees are subject to change.

Al-Kittab, 3rd Edition, Chapters 1-11

Test Results and Retakes: 

Results are available within one week of the exam date.

You may take the UT Test for Credit in Arabic once per year.
