The UT Test for Credit in Turkish allows students with previous knowledge of Turkish to earn UT course credit for the lower division courses TUR 601C and 611C.
Students for Whom the Credit by Exam Test is Recommended or Appropriate
Students with prior knowledge of Turkish who wish to earn credit by exam for TUR 601C and 611C may take this test. The test consists of listening, reading, and writing sections. Depending on your result, you may be contacted by the Turkish Language Coordinator, Dr. Jeannette Okur, to participate in an oral interview to further determine proficiency. Students who earn credit for both TUR 601C and 611C and would like to take upper-division TUR courses should consult Dr. Okur for guidance. If you need to take a placement test to determine which TUR course is appropriate for you to enroll in, please see the information below.
The time allowed for this test is two and a half hours.
Students for Whom the Credit by Exam Test is NOT Recommended or Appropriate

Instead, they should register for the Turkish Placement Exam offered by the Department of Middle Eastern Studies at the start of each semester.
